Today's class presentation was about the Boston Marathon bombings. I was pretty shocked by the content and the new ways that news is being covered and supplemented by today technology. every day citizens are beginning to add to the mix their unique spin on perspectives. whether that be a video from their phone or a tweet form their twitter account. opinions and 1st hand eye witness are ever more prevalent and vocal.
I enjoyed the conversation that arose throughout the lesson. the contrast between what the media did badly against what they did well. I first found out about the bombings from my facebook. As discussed in class today, social media has forever altered the way that we receive news. The way that journalists gather and report the news has also been changed and upgraded dramatically due to social media. We don’t need or want to wait to pick up the morning paper then next day to get the biggest headlines of the day. All we have to do to get our news is to look at the internet.
As I said there are trade offs to this new change as with any new change of gathering and sharing news here is a good article about the changes
