Principles of Journalism, class recap #8 - October 29th

This week in class we talked about how ethics effects journalism. 1st off it should be known to be voulintary not forced. The press should be loyal 1st to the public and not to those it discusses or reveiws. The press idealy should be interactive between the public and the wirter/ reporter. Fairness and balance should be involved. obviously surscutious news gatehring is not exceptable as well as disorting or exagerating the facts. Great thought should be put first be considered when includig pictures or names of discussed party and how that could impact them. Adhear to your conscience. Invite conversation and an open debate. seek truth and report it! minimize harm. act indepentdently. Be accountable, nad not just for saving face. know that one thought independent means nothing but collectielly focused on one thought is very powerfull. Rules and that regulate ethics in journaism were adapted and officailly published in 1971. I also learned abouthe Potter's box method in implementing ethic consideration while writing.
